We’re proud to welcome Jason Roseman to City Feed for February’s First Thursday (Feb. 6 from 6-8 pm) at our Centre Street store. Born on the beautiful twin island republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Jason Roseman is a second generation steel pan tuner. He credits much of his success to his father, Joseph Roseman, who introduced and nurtured Jason’s deep love and respect for the steel pan instrument.
Jason started performing on steel pans at age eight and has traveled extensively, sharing the indigenous art form of his beloved country with the rest of the world. He also has taught steel pans at secondary school level in his native Trinidad and conducted workshops in England.
As a performer, this RISCA Fellowship recipient has graced the stage with the Ray Kennedy Entertainers, Cassave, and Celia Cruz and has performed in the Caribbean, Mexico and Costa Rica, Canada, Switzerland,
England and many of the United States. Jason’s music varies from Jazz, Classical and his native Calypso and Soca music some of which can be purchased online at CD Baby. He has performed as a soloist with the AS220 Criss Cross Orchestra and the Changes in Latitudes, Jimmy Buffett Cover Band (The premiere Buffett cover band in the US).
As a tuner, Jason has built steel pan drum instruments for individuals and educational institutions in the Caribbean, United States, and Europe. Living in the United States since 1997, he continues to promote his steel pan art
form every opportunity he gets.
